Well, I now have a nice new bathroom. Here are some photos – click to view them larger (the bathroom is rather small, but you get the idea)
The old bathroom. As you can see the walls are in a bit of a state, as is the sealing round the bath. Also note the patches with missing tiles – there were actually 3 layers of tiles on the walls!

Work in progress – the tiles have been removed from the walls, and the walls are being patched and coated with Unibond waterproofing

The new bath goes in, together with tiles on the floor (the old floor was carpet with water stain effect!)
An extractor fan is fitted to prevent dampness. You can also see the new plasterboard ceiling, unpainted at this point.
Tiling in progress; All the walls are fully tiled, which is an improvement on the old bathroom. You can also see the new handbasin.
The finished bathroom. All in all much cleaner and more waterproof than the old one!
